Enjoy family-friendly fun from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, including marsh tours, talks about tern research on Great Gull Island, and children's crafts and activities.

[FREE] "Terns of the Marsh" Day at Hammonasset Beach State Park, Saturday, August 15!

Celebrate the salt marsh at Hammonasset Beach State Park with Audubon Connecticut and Meigs Point Nature Center! Learn all about the amazing salt marsh habitat at Hammonasset through a day of presentations, children’s crafts, salt marsh visits, and activities for all ages.

Audubon is also thrilled to announce a major restoration project will be taking place at the Hammonasset salt marsh over the coming years! Visit our table to learn more in person.

Free to attend!

Anyone planning to go on a marsh visit should wear boots or other sturdy, close-toed shoes that can get dirty.

Salt Marsh Days are family-friendly with no registration required.

Join a naturalist from the Meigs Point Nature Center to explore the salt marsh and learn about the salt marsh ecosystem.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Morning Talk: "Ongoing Tern Research on Great Gull Island, the Jewel of Long Island Sound"
Discover how researchers study Common and Roseate Terns through satellite tracking, banding, and feeding studies, and learn about the critical role of coastal habitats in their annual life cycle.

12:45 PM – 1:45 PM
Join a naturalist from the Meigs Point Nature Center to explore and learn about a topic of their choice.

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
